Junior Leadership and Food Recovery Program
A big part of the mission here is through food recovery. The Galloping Grace Youth Ranch acquires food waste from schools and grocery stores to feed their livestock - over half a ton on a daily basis. Their animals are provided a fresh, diverse, colorful, and nutritious salad bar each morning. They can adequately supply their animals with the required nutrients from the food that their community has thrown into the trash. In turn, the ranch is able to produce and donate quality meat to local food banks, contributing to food security for many families. Junior leaders, ages 12-17, learn about this process by helping with all aspects at the ranch. They come to the ranch every day and are also in charge of teaching preschool ranch camp sessions.
