Opal® Apple Tart


  • 4 large Opal® apples - peeled, cored and sliced lengthwise thinly
  • 1 ½ tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter-softened
  • ¼ cup currant jelly


Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees

Using a pre-baked tart crust, start on the outside of the tart pan arranging apple slices, neatly overlapping them as you go around the tart pan. Start the second row overlapping the first row by about half. When you have filled the tart pan to the center, repeat the process. This will give you a second layer of apples. You may have some extra apple slices left.

Sprinkle the top of apple tart with sugar and dot with butter. Place in the middle of the oven for 40 minutes. When tart is almost done prepare the jelly. Place the jelly in a small bowl and microwave for 30-45 seconds on 50% power.

When tart is out of the oven, brush the top with the warmed jelly. Place tart under the broiler for 3-5 minutes. Watch closely so the top of the tart doesn’t burn.
